I am a French Immersion teacher specializing in language/social studies. Many of my music students add tutoring to their weekly lessons as I can provide support to students from non French-speaking families. I completed my teaching practicum in French Immersion in 2004, and spent the first fifteen years of my public school teaching career as a French Immersion teacher. I provide tutoring for FSL and both Early/Late French Immersion students.
The BC Ministry of Education allows students to challenge courses to earn graduation credits. Language Challenge exams are administered annually in January by the Delta School District. A Grade 11/12 language course can meet the language proficiency requirement for admission to some university programs.

To have language proficiency certified to an International standard can be a major asset to students. British Columbia Grade 12 language courses and the "Double Dogwood" graduation certificate for French Immersion students are well-recognized in BC. However, elsewhere in the world, certification standards for language proficiency are different. A DELF or DALF certification can provide students with an International "stamp of approval". I provide support/training towards completion of these exams.
Early in my public school teaching career, I was trained/certified as an International Baccalaureate language teacher for French, and spent several years teaching IB French in the public school system. I offer support to students preparing for their IB Internal Assessments, Extended Essays and Language B (HL/SL) Final Exams for the IB graduation program.

Many universities have now moved away from using grades as the exclusive means by which they evaluate applications for admission. UBC, as an example, requires a "personal profile" to be created as part of the application process. I provide editing/feedback to students who might need some advice before they apply to their preferred post-secondary school.

Students applying for scholarships sometimes find it difficult to describe their skills and accomplishments without sounding self-centered and self-promoting. I can help students to create and edit application letters that communicate essential information and avoid problematic words/phrases.
